I am hosting a Black & White Chunky Page Swap (that being: 4x4" on sturdy cardboard, meant to be bound into little books) Here are my first 4. I went with a sort of "Cabinet of Curiosities" feel. The main subjects (raven, heart, moth skull) are hand drawn using micron and gel pens, then cut out and used in the collage.

Two more mixed media cards for the Pick-A-Theme swap. The poppies are cut from various papers (ticket, autumn leaf, etc) and the background is one I received in a recent Background "Fancy Paper" swap. The theme for the other card was "A women wrapped around a tree or vine", probably not exactly what she had in mind.....

The gears were cut from a photograph I took in upstate NY of some rusted machinery on the road side. The themes requested for these cards were "corroded metal" and "broken dolls".

Well it's been too long since I posted here! Thought I'd show off some of my Found Poetry ATCs. I like to make the "poems" first, THEN illustrate them with lots of layers of cut-outs, textures, stamps, etc. Some of these were for a swap at IATCs.com, some are part of my stash to bring to Art for All weekend in Rochester, NY in June.

Yea, I love Halloween, and I love Steampunk, so here I am ready to hit the clubs. I was expecting a lot more "who are you supposed to be?" but apparently Steampunk is more wide-spread than I thought :D

Those of you familiar with Steampunk couture know Goggles are pretty much expected , but what to do if you are as near-sighted as I am but REALLY prefer goggles to glasses? I made these goggles out of some clear plastic safety glasses that are made to be worn over glasses.
All in all I am pretty happy with them!

Every girl needs a good gun, don't you think? Especially a nifty brass and mahogany one with lots of bells and whistles!
I made this steampunk rifle out of an old MIB toy that had seen better days. I still may add a few more details but I'm pretty happy with it as is.

OK, I love the Hellsing series and comics, so when a Graphic novel/comic swap was posted on ATCs for All I had to make some cards! I used my Prismacolor grayscale markers and I was planning on adding color but I kinda like the way they came out.

July is here and I'm back in mail-art mode. Spent the whole day yesterday making these 4X4" Chunkie pages for a swap at ACTs for ALL. The theme is "Cute/Creepy" Goth Girls so I went with my versions of 4 lovely Nursery Rhyme Ladies.

Had a blast with these; tried my hand at some package tape image transfers for the text; used lots of different fibers for the hair; and stayed with just a red, blue, purple, black color theme.

"Inchie" Postcards

I've been making Inchies; 1X1" mini art squares, for a live trade at the end of June. I mark off a grid on a 3X5" index card then fill all the squares with 15 themed pictures. I've scanned them before I cut them apart and I'm thinking of adding a 1" black border and printing up some postcards. These are my "Gothic" (prismacolor grayscale markers and micron pen) and "Small Stuff"(graphite pencils) cards.

These run anywhere from 5"X7" to larger than 3ft.
This large collage titled: "Fields of Mars" was inspired
by the vintage WWI sheet music seen in the upper left corner with the unGodly name: Heaven's Artillery!

Frankenstein's Beautiful Monster

I have been posting my Children's Book Illustrations on my Faerie Factorie blog for a while now so, I thought I would set up a new blog for all my "grown-up" artwork, starting with this ATC made for Paul Cooper's "A Patchwork of Flesh" project. This is my concept of Frankenstein's Monster based on the description of him in the novel:
"His limbs were in proportion, and I had selected his features as beautiful. Beautiful!-Great God! His yellow skin scarcely covered the work of muscles and arteries beneath: his hair was of a lustrous black, and flowing; his teeth of a pearly whiteness; but these luxuriences only formed a more horrid contrast with his watery eyes, that seemed almost of the same colour as the dun white sockets in which they were set, his shrivelled complexion and straight black lips" (Thanks Coop!)
